Are You the Victim of a Scam or Fraud on Pets Connected?

29 Apr, 2025

At PetsConnected.com, we take scams and fraud seriously.
If you believe you’ve been the victim of a scam, whether through an advert or a user interaction, it’s important to report it right away.
We are committed to ensuring that our platform remains safe for everyone.

Here’s what to do if you suspect fraud or have been scammed:

💡 Recognising Common Scams

Scammers may attempt to:

  • Mislead you into paying for a pet that doesn’t exist or isn’t available.

  • Ask for upfront payments for services or pets, even though they haven’t met you or shown proof of the pet.

  • Offer animals for sale that do not meet legal or welfare standards (e.g., underage pets or unhealthy animals).

  • Try to move conversations off the platform to email, text, or other methods, in order to avoid our platform’s protections.

If you notice any of these behaviours, proceed with caution.

🛑 How to Report a Scam or Fraud

  1. Go to the advert or user profile of the person involved.

  2. Click on the Report This Advert or Report User button.

  3. Select Scam or Fraud as the reason for the report.

  4. Provide any relevant details or evidence to support your claim (e.g., screenshots of messages, proof of payment requests).

  5. Click Submit — our team will review the case and take appropriate action.

Note: Button locations are subject to change based on style updates on the website, so the location may vary slightly depending on current design choices.

📬 What Happens After You Report a Scam?

After submitting your report:

  • Our Trust & Safety team will investigate the situation.

  • We may contact you for further details to help us understand the issue.

  • If the user or advert is found to be fraudulent, we will take swift action, which could include:

    • Removing the advert

    • Blocking or suspending the scammer’s account

    • Referring the case to the appropriate authorities

🚨 Protecting Yourself from Scams

To protect yourself:

  • Never send payment for a pet or service without verifying the legitimacy of the seller or advertiser.

  • Always meet in person before making any transactions — especially for pets.

  • If something feels off or too good to be true, trust your instincts and report it.

  • Use our platform’s secure messaging system until you’re comfortable and confident.

At PetsConnected.com, we work hard to ensure our platform is scam-free.
Thank you for helping us keep Pets Connected a safe and trusted space for everyone.
